Sculptor Ben Turnbull

There’s a distinct possibility that a desk or two at one of the schools I attended during my academia years may or may not have some form of permanent alteration from the time that I spent there.

There’s a distinct possibility that a desk or two at one of the schools I attended during my academia years may or may not have some form of permanent alteration from the time that I spent there. I can neither deny nor confirm this, however, if it were to be true, said alterations would not be nearly as nice as these school desk carvings from Ben Turnbull.

From Eleven Fine Arts in London: An unruly child, Turnbull was expelled from two schools, and it was while waiting alone in the corridors that he first learnt how to draw. In one instance, he even spent a year etching Iron Maiden caricatures on to a desk. These new works encapsulate these memories of youth, spent dreaming of the future and dwindling the hours away until the school bell rang.
