TONIGHT: Free Art Show At Kingdom!

by | May 21, 2012 | ART

Kingdom, a local club located in Shockoe Bottom, which opened up last year in the space formerly known as Alley Katz, has been carving out a solid niche for itself in the local scene since its opening date, particularly through the booking of excellent metal and hardcore bands that previously tended not to play here in RVA. Now, in an effort to help boost the local art scene as well as the music scene, they’ve started hosting free art shows once a month. The first of these, held last month, was apparently quite a success, and they’re following it up with another excellent showcase tonight!

Now, in an effort to help boost the local art scene as well as the music scene, they’ve started hosting free art shows once a month. The first of these, held last month, was apparently quite a success, and they’re following it up with another excellent showcase tonight! In addition to free admission, visitors to Kingdom tonight will get to enjoy food and drink specials all night, as well as some great art and music. Music will be provided by local groups Comrades, Solace Sovay, and Fixtures, all of whom combine some measure of alternative rock, metal, and emotionally-driven hardcore into pleasing, original sounds. There will also be artwork on display from Shamyra Collins, Billy Collier, Amanda Martin, Linda Maharidge, Will Fisher, and John Born. On the whole, the evening will feature a variety of entertainments, and the price is certainly right. So liven up your Monday night, take a trip down to Shockoe Bottom, and check out some great art and music. You’ll be glad you did!
