After a huge success with the first edition of Byrlesque At The Byrd this past summer, Deanna Danger Productions and Boom Boom Basics Burlesque & Performing Arts Studio are bringing their talents back to the Byrd for a return engagement this Sunday! While the original presentation of Byrlesque At The Byrd was a more general salute to the history of the motion picture, this edition focuses on Holidays At The Movies. Byrlesque At The Byrd will salute a wide variety of Christmas-themed films, including White Christmas, Rudolph, A Christmas Story, and many more!
After a huge success with the first edition of Byrlesque At The Byrd this past summer, Deanna Danger Productions and Boom Boom Basics Burlesque & Performing Arts Studio are bringing their talents back to the Byrd for a return engagement this Sunday! While the original presentation of Byrlesque At The Byrd was a more general salute to the history of the motion picture, this edition focuses on Holidays At The Movies. Byrlesque At The Byrd will salute a wide variety of Christmas-themed films, including White Christmas, Rudolph, A Christmas Story, and many more! Hosted by notorious local raconteur Mark Slomski, the event will also feature introductory music by Bob Gulledge and his Mighty Wurlitzer, as well as appearances by crotchety comic duo the FilmRoasters and a historic movie montage by Todd Raviotta. And of course, there will be dancers, both from the RVA area and traveling from surrounding locales, such as Raleigh and Washington DC. Look for performances by The Muse and The Red Huntress, a chorus line cabaret tribute to The Byrdettes, and of course, the star of the show, Miss Deanna Danger herself! It’ll be a holiday festival for the senses!
And like any holiday show, this edition of Byrlesque At The Byrd wouldn’t be complete without the inclusion of some form of charity. In the spirit of the season, Byrlesque At The Byrd will feature a canned food drive for the Central Virginia Food Bank. Each person who donates to the drive will receive one raffle ticket, giving them a chance to win a prize featuring various contributions from local artisans and businesses. adding up to a value of over $200. Bygones, River City Burlesque, and several other local vendors will also be on hand at the show, vending their wares. Vintage and cocktail attire is requested!
