What’s happening craft beer lovers of RVA?! Welcome to this week’s “Tapped,” RVA Magazine’s go to weekly craft beer column where you can find all your craft beer-related events, releases, festivals and all the booze news your little hearts’ desire.
If you missed last week’s beer news, you can check those out here. Our cup is overflowing with news this week from releases to events, and other cool happenings around town, so hold on to your mugs because we’re getting ready to tap this thing!
Fine Creek Brewing Co. in Powhatan will have Rappahannock Oyster Co. shucking and selling oysters this weekend. They are doing a Crowl-a-Thon on Saturday, special deals on purchases of crowler packs. The brewery will also release Hello Nasty DIPA, a hop-forward West Coast style IPA; Saturday we will have a cask version of this as well, with a different hop profile. There will also be live music on Saturday by Willie DE.
Isley Brewing returns this week with their Infusion Friday. This time, it’s a Honey & Thyme-infused Belgian White Ale.

Castleburg Brewery and Taproom is throwing down big Monday, April 2. They will celebrate their 2nd Annual Dyngus Day, a Polish-American holiday that celebrates the end of Lent and the beginning of Spring. It’s a reason to eat great polish food and drink beer! The brewery will feature ACCA (Shrine) Temple Sauerkrauts German Band who will be providing live polka music with all donations made to the band given to the Shriners Hospitals for Children. The Dog Wagon will be providing the food, and Castleburg will even have a Miss Dyngus Day RVA 2018 Pageant. You must pre-register to participate/compete in this event, which you can do here. Of course, no celebration is complete without a new beer release. The brewery will have Castilian’s Champagne, brewed with Oak Smoked Wheat Malt. The beer was nicknamed “Polish Champagne” because of its high carbonation levels, and because it was valued as a high-quality beverage to be used for special occasions.

To get you pumped up for the Dyngus Day celebrations, Castleburg has a beer release on Saturday. They will bring back For Love & Gold, a lemon peppercorn saison.

On Friday, Vasen Brewing will release the first batch of their “Wanderlust” pilot series. And stick around for live music by Lobo Marino starting at6 pm and schnitzels from German Snack Shack from 6-9pm.

Center of the Universe in Ashland will release its BEEr Orange Blossom Honey Ale this Saturday. The brew is a graduate of Origin Beer Lab and developed by Ashley Ray. The beer is brewed with gallons of orange blossom honey which is then complemented by a generous portion of honey malt and 2-row barley. This new taproom favorite clocks in at 7.2% ABV.

This Saturday, Hardywood has a double release with its Foolery and Bourbon Cru. The Bourbon Cru is an Abbey-Style quadrupel ale aged in bourbon whiskey barrels. Hardywood Foolery is a huge imperial milk stout aged in bourbon barrels for 10 months. Massive chocolate, vanilla and caramel flavors precede aromatic hints of dark cherry, tobacco, leather, and oak.

On Friday, Final Gravity will release its Vapour Trail DIPA, made with Falconer’s Flight and Citra hops bringing out the grapefruit, floral, and tropical tones of this brew.

Newly-opened Canon & Draw Brewing Company on West Main Street will release Glass Case of Emotion, a 5.5% pale ale this Saturday. The is the first in their #FerrellSeries, and uses Citra, Lemondrop, and Centennial hops.

On Thursday, Ardent Craft Ales will release Company Man, a German Style Pilsner. So clock out of work tomorrow, and have a cold one with this guy.

Three Notch’d RVA Collab Houses returns this Thursday with their weekly collaboration. This time, its Phantom, Myrtle and the Mandarin,” a Hoppy Saison with Guava & Tangerine made in partnership with Stone Brewing Richmond. Pint specials and trivia!
