Last Saturday kicked off Virginia Craft Beer Month, and across the state hundreds of breweries, bars, and restaurants will celebrate craft beer. Now in its fourth year, Virginia Craft Beer Month has grown to tons of festivals, parties, beer releases, and other events all around Virginia just to celebrate the exploding craft beer scene, which currently has over 100 breweries with more on the way.

Now there are just too many events going on around the state for me to sum up right here, but I will do my best to give you everything I find each week in RVA Mag’s craft beer column “Tapped,” which runs every Wednesday. We will dedicate each week to Virginia Craft Beer Month events and if you find anything throughout the month please send it to amy@rvamag.com.

For now I will leave you with a few upcoming Virginia Craft Beer Month-related events that you can check out that are around the state:

The RVA Brew B-Q Festival kicks off Sunday, Aug. 16 at the 17th Street Farmers Market. Craft beer and BBQ. Yum!

Stone Brewing has an entire week dedicated to them with tap takeovers all over Richmond. The brewery will feature their beers for Stone Week RVA at all Capital Ale House locations, The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing, Conch Republic, Sergio’s Pizza, Station 2, Portrait House, and a few other places, Check out all the tap take overs which run through Aug. 6 here.

Hardywood is offering specials on all of its Reserve Series and Barrel Series bottles to go! Visit the tasting room from now until August 30th.

Brown Distributing has a listing of all month long happenings, festivals, and breweries on their Facebook page. Check it out. Its sweet.

The Answer Brewpub will celebrate National IPA Day this Thursday with an IPA Challenge. The Brewpub is pitting its beers against other RVA beers, Virginia’s, and even The World! IPAhhhh!

The West Broad Street brewpub will also host the official launch party of the Local Beer Review website on Fri. Aug 7. They will be tapping brews from all RVA breweries involved in the site. And of our own RVA Mag president John Reinhold will thrown down some DJ magic so be there for that epicness!

At Starr Hill Brewery, $1 for every pint of beer sold in our Tap Room, every day, is donated to one of many deserving local non-profit organizations. It’s our way of spreading awareness and support for groups that do so much for our community. The month of August supports the American Heart Association.

The Crozet brewery has also collaborated with Hardywood to make “Sunnidalia,” a hoppy wheat beer with copious amounts of German Hull Melon hops and a touch of local wildflower honey. Check out all of their events here.

Microfestivus in Roanoke, is celebrating its 18th anniversary on Aug. 8. Attendees have the opportunity taste 130 beers at the festival.

The Virginia Brewers Guild will host probably the biggest event of them all for Virginia Craft Beer Month at the end of the summer. The 4th annual Virginia Craft Brewers Fest is going down August 22 at Devils Backbone Basecamp in Nelson County. More than 40 Virginia craft brewers will offer tastings of their best brews.

Of course this isn’t a full list, so to keep up with all Virginia Craft Beer Month happenings on RVA Mag’s “Tappe” column and #vabeer. Feel free to sumbit events to amy@rvamag.com. Cheers!
