Meet Strangeways’ “Gourd of Thunder,” our official Halloweek Beer

Our friends at Strangeways always provide amazing and unique beers. Last year we were very excited to have their beers at our Halloweek events and Hanger party. Now this year, for Halloweek 2014, we are excited to have their special Imperial Pumpkin “Gourd Of Thunder” as our official Beer of Halloweek.

Now this year, for Halloweek 2014, we are excited to have their special Imperial Pumpkin “Gourd Of Thunder” as our official Beer of Halloweek.

Make sure sure and look for it at our events around town and at Strangeways Brewery, located at 2277 Dabney Rd.

This Pumpkin Porter rates in at 9.2 ABV with 18 IBU’s – so it has a good kick to it.

A great example of a perfect beer for the Holiday season, this porter has a nice pumpkin spice throughout with hints of brown sugar, molasses, vanilla, cinnamon, and a nice forward clove finish.

With a dark roast malt look and feel for a porter, Gourd of Thunder is definitely more on the heavy porter imperial-side, which I love. These flavors work well with the local roasted pumpkins Strangeways uses to make the craft brew.

It’s warm and inviting, the kind of brew you could enjoy near a fire on a cold night or at a party surrounded by costumed compatriots.

It fits perfectly into our Richmond Halloweek and your Halloween plans, perfect to bring a unique flavor to your events. Gourd of Thunder is really a beer which defines Richmond Halloween tradition!

Gourd of Thunder is a dark and gnarly Imperial Pumpkin Porter brewed with freshly picked local pumpkins that were ripened on the vine while continuously listening to heavy metal. The malty pumpkin backbone fuses robustly with a milky sugar creaminess. Bourbon vanilla beans lay down a rock-steady foundation that drives the cinnamon, ginger and clove spices through your skull. This brew does not merely mimic the flavor of a mortal pumpkin pie. Gourd of Thunder will cataclysmically blow your mind with its face-melting, high-voltage attitude. Headbangers Unite!
