Sober Cocktails To Get You Through The Holidays

by | Dec 21, 2022 | EAT DRINK

We’re reaching the tail end of December, and of 2022 as a whole, and you can’t turn a full circle without seeing the bright, neon deadline of any and every holiday on the horizon. It’s the season of packed calendars aplenty, from office parties to time with friends and family to enjoying the solitude of time alone stretching your last limb as far as you can to reach your last remaining goals on your Kindle. It’s also the season of food and beverage aplenty, and naturally, spirits always make their way into gatherings of adults. If you are the sober friend who is tired of being offered various types of water when you mention you don’t drink, take heart: there are other options out there! Here are some delicious sober cocktails for you to try at home, courtesy of our friend Jody Short of Point 5 in Carytown.

Taylor’s Blueberry Mule:
Muddle blueberries and mint in your favorite glass (or skip the mint, if you’re allergic like me). Add ice, pour 2 oz of Amethyst Blueberry NA spirit, and top with Goslings Ginger Beer.

Jessica’s Winter Chill:
Add ice to your favorite glass. Pour 2 oz of Flora CBD NA spirit, and top with Ghia’s Lime and Salt.

Jody’s Easy to Drink Choices:

Bonbuz Lime Martini:
Using my rainbow martini glass (unfortunately not pictured), I pour 2 oz of Bonbuz, top with any tonic water and a squeeze of lime.

Tenneyson on the Rocks:
Grab a cute coupe, a little ice, and fill with Tenneyson’s Black Ginger — no mixers needed.

Customer suggestion: Cherry Bourbon
Use a bourbon glass, add a large ice cube, 2 oz of Gnista Barreled Oak, half a spoonful of Traverse City cherry juice, and garnish with three cherries.

If you need me on Christmas Eve, I’ll be cuddled under a blanket watching Iron Man 3 and appreciating how much drinking Gnista with a few maraschino cherries tastes like drinking a cherry cordial. A bonus option I have been enjoying as well? Grab a Coke Zero, three pumps of vanilla syrup and two shots of Pathfinder NA Spirit, and thank me later.

Whether you’re sober living or just looking to cut down on your drinking, there are a bevy of options for you to enjoy a beautiful beverage and ring in the new year. What are your go to non-alcoholic beverages for the holidays? Let us know in the comments today.
