Aesthetic Anarchy: Weekend Playlist By J. Roddy Walston

by | Feb 21, 2020 | MUSIC

Every Friday night, RVA Mag brings you a playlist curated by Virginia’s most influential artists, musicians, and institutions.

This week, we present a special throwback playlist from J. Roddy Walston, soon to be featured in the next print issue of RVA Magazine. A lot has changed for Walston since we first featured this playlist, back in October of 2018. His longtime band, J. Roddy Walston & The Business, announced a hiatus, and he formed a new group, Palm Palm, with fellow Richmond musicians Charlie Glenn (Trillions), Raphael Katchinoff (Milkstains), and Andrew Carper (Southern Belles). Both of those groups are currently out touring the US together, giving the country a chance to bid the Business farewell even as they welcome Palm Palm into the world.

You’ll learn all about that in the near future, when our exclusive interview with J. Roddy Walston comes into the world, but for now, just to pique your interest, we’ve got an encore presentation of J. Roddy Walston & The Business’s October 2018 playlist, featuring a whole pile of classic tunes — everything from Robert Plant and Jerry Garcia to Fugazi and Illiterate Light.

Get ready to rock, Virginia.
