Tesco Vee’s been involved in the punk rock scene pretty much since it began. Starting pioneering punk rock zine Touch And Go in Michigan in 1979, he formed The Meatmen in 1981. This seminal hardcore punk band made it their business to trample taboos, ignore PC conventions, and piss off as many people as they could. It only makes sense that a band with this mission–which is reflected in Meatmen song titles like “Crippled Children Suck,” “French People Suck,” “We’re The Meatmen And You Suck,” and many more–would perform at the 2014 GWAR-B-Q, taking place on Saturday, August 16.

In advance of The Meatmen’s appearance at this year’s GWAR-B-Q, local podcast Cut The Cord Radio recently had an extensive and wide-ranging conversation with Tesco Vee. While they did discuss the GWAR-B-Q, they covered a wide variety of other topics from Vee’s three-decade-plus musical career, including his reminiscences about Minor Threat playing his basement, as well as his negative reaction to the recently revived version of Black Flag, his memories of The Mentors and Courtney Love, and much more. Vee doesn’t hold back when he’s on the mic, so the interview is not safe for work listening (unless you’ve got headphones on), but it is definitely a fun listen. Check it out below:
