Are you ready for all the face-melting punk your weak little body can handle in two days? Well you better be because the owner behind Richmond’s record store Vinyl Conflict along with a few other organizers are putting on RVA’s third PUNX Picnic.
Bobby Egger, owner of punk and metal record store Vinyl Conflict in Oregon Hill, along with a few of his friends are bringing together bands from all over for a two-night, two venue punk binge fest, drinking, hanging out, moshing, and of course a lovely picnic.
“It’s run by a group of friends, and to bring in bands from out of town to spend a fun weekend together in Richmond,” said Egger in an interview.
For RVA PUNX PICNIC VOL. 3, Egger booked local punk bands and punk rockers from a few other states to play two nights of raw, intense, eardrum busting, mosh pit diving, in your face punk your listening pleasure. The bands will play at 25 Watt in Shockoe Bottom on 18th Street on Friday and Strange Matter on Saturday.

BIBLE THUMPER from New Brunswick, NEUTRON RATS from Albany, THE DRIP from Philly, DILATE from New Brunswick, AGGRESSIVE RESPONSE from Albany, Philly-based band ASEPTIC, AMMUNITION from Pittsburgh, LEFT CROSS from Richmond and Dry Spell and Schiavi from Richmond.

Egger said he wanted to showcase a little mix of talent from all over for this gathering, not just local punk musicians and bands.
“Richmond Bands are very important to us, and while we did have many, the schedules for each group is difficult,” he said. “Many locals play multiple times a month in support to touring bands, so for us to have an all local line up would be fairly difficult. Additionally having out of town bands play adds to the element of having people from each city additionally coming out be it a band from Philly, New Jersey, or wherever.”
On Saturday there will be the picnic before the Strange Matter show at Forest Hill Park. Egger said there will be a guide distributed with directions to the picnics and other locations.
Punx Picnic Vol. 3 will showcase bands this Friday and Saturday at Strange Matter and 25 Watt. $5 cover for shows.
