Are you an aspiring guitarist looking to make a name for yourself and join Richmond’s fantastic music scene? Or do you just know someone who can play guitar and want a free meal and drinks? Are you an aspiring guitarist looking to make a name for yourself and join Richmond’s fantastic music scene? Or do you just know someone who can play guitar and want a free meal and drinks? If either of these apply to you, you are in luck, as Those Manic Seas is currently searching for a new guitarist to join their band!

The Richmond “quartet” recently took to Cragislist and Reddit to look for a replacement for their existing guitarist, Trey Tyler, as he is leaving the band “due to work.” The group, who combines post-rock with elements of shoegaze and noise rock, has been around the Richmond scene since 2010 and have just recently begun work on their full length debut record for North Carolina record label Angry Pirate Records. Suffice it to say, it’s a pretty pivotal time in the band’s future.

The band’s Cragislist post is pretty much a list of what any band wants out of a member: “professional equipment, able to gig often and tour when planned, reliable transportation,” and, of course, to “take music seriously.” Their Reddit post, on the subreddit /r/RVA, is where the free meal and drink come into play for those enticed by the freebie in the introduction: “Referral fee (if we choose who you know) – Dinner and two beers at Joe’s Inn. Three beers if we’re having fun.”

So if you’re a great guitarist, join a great band that hopefully will make some big waves in 2014. And if you know someone currently holed up in their apartment playing guitar for 18 hours day like John Frusciante, get them out of isolation so you can get a free meal and two beers. Make sure you’re fun though. You don’t want to miss out on that third beer.

Or you know, Those Manic Seas could give RVA Magazine that third beer. We’re fun. Just saying.
