Richmond, VA based power pop indie rock equipment smashing maniacs call it quits.
Since 2005 Prabir and the Substitutes have been playing all over the country. The group has had the honor of playing with bands such as Hoots and Hellmouth, Dr. Dog, Hotel Lights, The Silver Beats, The Old Ceremony and several others.
After three full length records, several vans, several more equipment repairs, and a staggering 150 tour dates a year the band is finally calling it quits. The final show will happen this saturday at Gallery 5 in their hometown of Richmond, VA.
Front man Prabir Mehta has started working with a project involving his pop songs being accompanied by classically trained musicians. Prabir/Goldrush will start touring and recording in early 2010.
“We’ve had a great time sharing stages with some amazing bands and are really proud of our songs and records, but its just time to move on from this as we find our selves working on other projects. Thanks for all the support America. You’ve allowed five guys from Virginia to see the good and bad all over this country for the past four years. We’ll miss you guys for sure.” – Prabir Mehta
Prabir and The Substitutes will call it quits while they headline The Ghost Of Pop music festival, a night of music that has become an annual tradition in Richmond, VA.
