RVA Mag and GayRVA are looking for someone passionate and interested in Richmond’s diverse community to help tell stories and manage the day-to-day for their websites with an average of 120,000 views per month.
The ideal candidate will wear many hats: copywriter, assistant editor, feature writer, and social media support staff.
We are a rapidly growing company with 10 years of experience under our belts. The success from RVA Mag’s 10th anniversary, combined with the newsworthiness of GayRVA’s focus, has primed both publications to make massive impacts in Richmond and beyond.
What we look for someone with a:
1 – Degree in journalism or similar field with an understanding of non-fiction writing (those without a degree are encouraged to apply, but please have proof of publishing success)
2 – Confident and strong editorial voice
3 – History of success in publishing online, in print or otherwise
4 – Willingness to cover a range of topics and find untold stories
5 – The motivation to exceed the expectations set by management
6 – Understanding of modern social media
This job is not for someone just turning wheels – we expect a new hire to realize the growth potential of both publications. We’re looking for someone to commit at least one year to this project and realize what can be done versus what is being done. They should be ready and willing to take advantage of the editorial opportunity provided through both publications and be ready to take steps to help grow our editorial impact however possible.
Pay will reflect a PART TIME job, but will be negotiable based on exp.
Hours – 9AM – 2PM Mon-Thursday with availability to cover stories outside office hours.
This job HAS SIGNIFICANT potential to go full time, but proof of success will be required before a larger commitment can be made by management.
