For those of you stuck in traffic Saturday, here’s the cause: 110 commercial vehicles supporting the special olympics.


For those of you stuck in traffic Saturday, here’s the cause: 110 commercial vehicles supporting the special olympics.

I’m not sure what wasting gas and clogging up the interstate has to do with such an awesome cause like the Special Olympics, but yeah, it happened.

The truck convoy is a unique one-day celebration in which law enforcement escort a convoy of trucks through cities and towns in 38 states and Canada. The event helps raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics athletes. The convoy begins and ends at the State Fair of Virginia at the Meadow Event Park. This is the fourth year for this event.

Last year, the event featured a little less than 50 trucks and raised $20K. I’m just glad I didn’t have to drive anywhere this weekend.
