Snail Mail Charms Richmond On The Valentine Tour

by | Aug 25, 2022 | MUSIC

Maryland native and fabulous singer/songwriter Lindsey Jordan, aka Snail Mail, dazzled Richmond this past Friday evening with a dreamy set for the celebration tour of their brilliant new record, Valentine. Their performance at The National was originally scheduled to take place last November, only two weeks after Valentine‘s release. The need to push the date back until nine months later was unfortunate, but understandable. In the end, it was worth the wait.

The event featured two opening bands, the first being Hotline TNT. This Minneapolis-born, New York-based band brought the sounds of a beautiful shoegaze dream to The National. They shared songs from their recent EP release, When You Find Out, and more tunes from popular projects. They put on a stellar set, so definitely make sure to arrive early to catch their must see performance on this tour.

Next, the fun carried on with Momma, the coolest Cali-based indie rock band from the city of angels. They got the audience so excited for the show, swapping instruments between members and dancing with the crowd throughout their rockstar of a set and leaving the barricade of smiling faces bigger fans then they already were. The music they shared was a collection of tunes that have become familiar in the indie rock world, including recent singles from their summer ‘22 album, Household Name. The title is so fitting — based on their infectious confidence, beautiful stage presence, and incredible sound, Momma and their work will be a household name for music fans to come.

Lastly, one of Richmond’s highly anticipated shows of the year closed with an absolute bang. Snail Mail rocked the stage with her vocals, shimmering silver suit, and dance moves. The pink-and-green-toned neon disco lights created the perfect atmosphere for photo taking, dancing with your loved ones, and listening to Lindsey Jordan sing so many favorites. She truly is a rockstar. So much happiness and queer joy filled the room, thanks to her brilliant band, soft red aesthetic, and beautiful songwriting. Richmond was so ecstatic to welcome one of our favorite traveling artists back. If you weren’t there, you definitely should go see Snail Mail, Momma, and Hotline TNT on the Valentine Tour before it wraps up. They’ll be in Silver Spring on September 9… just sayin.
