“Yavé Rust is a Richmond, VA-based music producer and audio engineer specializing in metal and punk. Originating from Peru, Yavé immigrated to the United States in 2006 driven by a singular passion: to make his mark on the global heavy music scene. Since settling in Richmond in 2018, he has delivered raw, hard-hitting productions for prominent Richmond, Virginia acts like Municipal Waste, Vigil, Restrictor Plate, Battlaster, BAT, Enforced… the list goes on and on.
The current project I’m working on, Buzzard Dust Presents: UNIT, just recorded with him, and I couldn’t speak more highly about his process and professionalism and his wonderful kitty assistants. The whole experience/atmosphere is incredible. His thing is helping heavy bands turn raw energy into crushing records, and DANG he’s fuckin good at it.
Join us as we discuss his journey to the United States and particularly Richmond, Virginia; your mother just not believing that you actually have a job and accusing you of potential illegal activities; how absolutely dumb I am for doing the interview with him on the same day as getting knee surgery; and our overwhelming love for two of the greatest things this world has to offer… sick music and CATS.
This one was a particularly fun one for me to do. So stoked I got the opportunity to document it with you, Yavé.
