Chuck Varga, a founding member of GWAR and the artist and performer behind the band’s Sexecutioner died over the weekend following a battle with cancer. He was 68.
Varga was part of GWAR from its earliest days, co-founding Slave Pit Studios in Richmond and helping shape the costumes, illustrations, characters and general visual insanity that would become inseparable from the band.
Varga eventually left Richmond for New York, where he worked in film, television and Broadway, but remained part of the extended GWAR family and continued appearing as Sexecutioner over the years.
