Richmond sludge rock band Among the Rocks and Roots is hosting a festival at Gallery5 with a few other local bands along with some other bans from out of state on Thursay before they hit the road this summer.

Slated to play at Among the Rocks and Roots Outsider Festival are the Bukkake Moms, Ersula, Yoga Demon, LRKR, Lacanthrope, and of course, Among the Roots and Rocks. Check out more on the bands below and take a listen to some of their tues.

You may not have heard of Among the Rocks and Roots, but the metal trio threw a tape-release party at Srange Matter back in April. The band is hosting this festival then will head out on a week long tour an be back in Richmond for a show Aug. 22 at Sound of Music. Check out some of their “sludge metal” below.

Norfolk-based Eursula has coined themselves as post hardcore “experimental punk noise.” See what you think below.

Bukkake Moms are a band from Denton, Tx. The punk/cybergoth band formed in 2010 and just released a new album called “The Chronic”.

Yoga Demon is another Richmond-based band on the bill that describe themelves as just plain “noise.” Take a listen below and decide for yourself.

LRKR is another Norfolk-based band playing Outsider Fest. Check out their sound below.

Lacanthrope is the third Richmon act slated to play. Xylon Otterburn is the guy behind the noise so give it a listen below.

All of these bands seem to bring something extremely different to the mix so I’d go check it out. Among the Rocks and Roots Outsider Fest is July 23 at Gallery5. 7 pm. $8.
