Best of RVA Missed Connections 7/12-7/19

by | Jul 19, 2016 | COMMUNITY

While Pokemon Go seems to be rapidly taking over the town, surprisingly there isn’t a single missed connection about two players whose eyes met after hours of vying to capture the same Pokemon this week. No secretly recorded phone calls, or plagiarized text messages, these people must live under a rock.

Trying to communicate with Carrie Burnette – m4w (Richmond)

I am posting in hopes of having the opportunity to once again chat with
Carrie Burnette. This particular Carrie used to live on S. Stafford Ave. and was in her mid 40’s several years since we last chatted a bit.

If anyone knows her would you please pass along this message and thank you. Once I mention orange vodka and sugar free red bull she may remember me a little. LOL

Yellow dress cutie – m4w (Trader Joes)

Like an idiot I dashed out in front of your car to take a phone call, then I almost bumped into you in the wine section. You looked great in that dress with the side slits. You look like a free spirit and adorable. Just wanted to let you know, I wish I had said hi.

blonde and blue hair working campus qudoba – m4w (Richmond)

You told me you liked my shirt. Then we talked about house shows and a band called three legged dog. Youre a mega babe!!! Should have gotten your name but I’m too awkward

Tattooed girl at Gwarbar – m4w (RVA)

Hey!This post is for the tattooed girl I met at Gwarbar doing karaoke. I remember you were singing some 90’s song you adamantly stated you “really didn’t like, but just doing it ironically” We went into the unisex bathroom and did some of my cocaine off of the toilet, and trying to see if there were any Pokemon in there. Then you tried to get me to buy you a drink.
You kept trying to get keybumps off of me afterwards, in between talking to other tattooed dudes that dressed exactly like you. I think I remember you saying half of the dudes in there were your “ex-boyfriends” and they all were tattoo artists/guitarists in D-Beat bands.
I was wearing loafers without socks, acid-washed capris, and a neon green “Frankie Says Relax” shirt, in case you don’t remember me.

One of my contact lenses came out while doing blow so I couldn’t really see you, but you were wearing black shorts, a fanny pack, a ripped-up band t-shirt, and you had a lot of tattoos. I think you were wearing Adidas Sambas, or Doc Martens. Your hair was dyed red or black or something like that.

If you fit that description and it really is you, tell me what you said about hoping to finally get your parent’s validation while you were snorting swastika-shaped lines off of the hand dryer. Thanks! Let’s get coffee!

Long Dreads – Carytown CVS Parking Lot – w4m (Richmond)

You were dropping off a Redbox, I was getting into my car. To be fair, you were probably checking out my dog (she’s the cute one), but man, you have a killer smile.
You turned and smiled again as we drove off – you might have been headed back to work nearish to the burger joint?
To sum up:YOU- killer smile and beautiful dreads. ME – cute dog wearing long black dress (me, not the dog)

Forest Hill Walmart – w4m (Chesterfield)

I saw you at walmart yesterday while I was walking out to my car and you were heading inside with another guy. You were tall with fair skin and had really long brown hair and you stared at me the whole time I was walking by. I was wearing a black punk band shirt and black shorts. I’m so pathetic for writing a missed connection lol but message me you were really attractive I’d like to get to know you

My in-law K… – m4w (RVA)

I know it’s wrong on many levels but, I am attracted too you. No, I don’t want a relationship.

I flirted with you the other day and I didn’t think you picked up on it. I simply could not look away from you for a period of time.

Again, I know it is wrong. Something tells me you may feel the same way…the feeling of having a crush on someone….I doubt it though.

You caught me car dancing at a red light – w4m

I was on Cary St. and you gave me a thumbs up to my car dancing at a red light. You also waved goodbye when I finally turned a corner. I drove an extra few blocks just to hopefully get stopped at another red light next to you but no luck.

Good Day RVA is Back and Bringing Friends Along

For four nights this weekend, bands from different generations of Richmond's music scene are taking over Get Tight Lounge. Called Tonal Recall, the series is part reunion show, part showcase and part excuse for a bunch of old friends to get back in the same room. ...

Fried Chicken and Soccer? Somehow It Makes Perfect Sense

"Richmond has your back... maybe."  That about sums it up, doesn't it? It's the slogan behind KCPFC, a new football-inspired project from Kwame Hayford, the guy behind Kwam's Chicken Project, and Richmond designer Ignatius Friend. The collection blends soccer culture...

Before Anyone Was Watching

I went to Virginia MOCA expecting to hear Andy Howell talk about skateboarding. Instead, I left thinking about community and how people find each other. Howell's installation opens Seamless, the museum's new exhibition exploring the overlap between art and design. At...

Duron Chavis is Building More Than a Farm

How two decades of community organizing grew into a vision for land ownership, education, and self-determination. The first time I met Duron Chavis, he wasn't talking about farmland. He was talking about culture. It was the early 2000s, and Happily Natural Day was...
