The Richmond Folk Festival is RVA’s biggest, most diverse, and most cherished event. Each year it offers a packed lineup of different musical and other performing acts from bluegrass, to beatboxing, to Cajun, to gospel, and last year the festival attracted more than 200,000 people. And as of today, it just got even better.

The Richmond Folk Festival partnered with Charlottesville’s Champion Brewing to can its own beer for this year’s event, called FestivALE, a Oktoberfest–style Märzen ale which craft beer lovers will be able to buy in stores ahead of the event.

The Richmond Folk Festival has put up a craft beer tent serving up all kinds brews for the craft beer lovers out there for a long time, and for the past two years it’s served Wild Wolf’s Folktoberfest ale to much success.

“Having our own beer was a dream come true…but being able to pick up a six-pack of our very own beer is incredibly sweet,” said Lisa Sims, Interim Executive Director, Venture Richmond. “We’d like to think everyone knows about the Folk Festival, but we know they don’t. Hopefully this will open up the Festival to an entirely new audience. Plus, it’s delicious and the can is gorgeous!”

You can check out video from Champion Brewing, who plans to open up a location in Richmond, of the ale being canned below:
