May 31 brings the 10th annual Stone Soul Music & Food Festival back to Richmond International Raceway. Presented each year by Radio One, this festival brings together stars of hip hop, R&B, and gospel music for live performances, along with food and beverages provided by at lesat 10 different area soul food restaurants. Kicking off at 12 noon, the festival presents a full day of music, headlined this year by rapper 50 Cent and R&B singer Keyshia Cole.
50 Cent, who hasn’t released an official album since 2009’s Before I Self-Destruct, is returning to the world of hip hop this year, with plans for two full-length album releases: Animal Ambition and Street King Immortal–though at this point only Animal Ambition actually has a release date scheduled. It’ll be out on June 3, a few days after his Stone Soul set, but you can get a preview of the album with his latest single, “Chase The Paper,” featuring Prodigy, Kidd Kidd, and Styles P.
Keyshia Cole‘s singing career has led not only to platinum albums and Grammy nominations but also to success in other formats–she has starred in two reality TV series, Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is, and Family First. She’s currently preparing to release her sixth album, Point Of No Return, and just released the first single from that album, “Next Time (Won’t Give My Heart Away),” earlier this month.
Other noteworthy artists performing at Stone Soul include up-and-coming rapper Ty Dolla $ign, who scored a recent hit with the B.O.B.-featuring “Paranoid.” Also performing will be Rico Love, a singer/songwriter who has written and produced tracks for Usher, Nelly, and Beyonce, among many others. Norfolk-born Adult R&B sensation George Tandy Jr, Mila J, and 112, along with many other artists yet to be announced, will also be performing.
The Stone Soul Music & Food Festival takes place on Saturday, May 31 at Richmond International Raceway. Tickets are on sale now at a variety of local retail locations–see the full list HERE.
