My sister-in-law Suzanne moved to Baltimore recently, so i threw together this 30 min mix of the infamous baltimore club music. admittedly there’s a good amount of philly club and a bit of jersey club, too, but whatever, it’s family. it’s fun. it’s NSFW. it’s unpretentious. it’s also designed to play well for someone who knows nothing of the style… so there’s a lot of hits that deejays will recognize… but so what? this isn’t really going to impress music snobs (myself included!) baltimore club music is often abrasive and can even be obnoxious, but it’s got a certain fun vibe and ass-shaking potential. it’s best listened with bass… the kicks and subs can be quite low. laptop speakers don’t do this much justice. o.k., enough pre-amble!

In 2005, I created RVA Magazine, and I'm still at the helm as its publisher. From day one, it’s been about pushing the “RVA” identity, celebrating the raw creativity and grit of this city. Along the way, we’ve hosted events, published stacks of issues, and, most importantly, connected with a hell of a lot of remarkable people who make this place what it is.
