Million Dollar Legs: Weekend Playlist by Lotus

by | Jan 31, 2020 | MUSIC

Every Friday night, RVA Mag brings you a playlist curated by Virginia’s most influential artists, musicians, and institutions.

This week’s playlist comes to us from Lotus, the instrumental progressive band who’ve spent the past twenty-plus years cementing their legacy with powerful live shows around the country and all over the world. They’re bringing the mindblowing feast for all five senses that is their signature to the National this weekend for a two-night stand, and if you haven’t already scored tickets to at least one of the two shows (happening tonight, Friday January 31, and tomorrow, Saturday February 1), you’re in luck because there’s still time! Head over to The National’s website right now and score yourself a pair of amazing musical headtrips sure to be the highlight of your weekend.

But you don’t have to wait until tonight to hear some outstanding sounds from Lotus — they’ve contributed a playlist to RVA Magazine that demonstrates the many different sounds that come together in Lotus’s potent instrumental stew. From jazz and psychedelic rock to funk, post-rock, and Afrobeat, it’s all there, and it’s guaranteed to get you hyped for the incredible shows — not one but two — that Richmond will see from Lotus this weekend.

Move with the groove, Virginia.
