Richmond Music of Right Now 2025 Poll Results!

by | Feb 22, 2025 | COMMUNITY, CULTURE, MUSIC, PINNED

This marks the third year of our annual poll, and for the first time, it feels like a true passing of the torch—Richmond’s next wave of musicians is taking center stage. That shift may have something to do with the fact that the majority of this year’s voters were under 25. They’re the ones shaping the city’s evolving music scene, bringing more diversity and fresh energy than ever before—and that’s a great thing. The more people invested in local music, the stronger the scene becomes.

This year, over 60,000 people read the poll, and 7,000 cast their votes—Richmond’s music community is thriving and people care deeply about what’s happening here. If you haven’t explored the local scene yet, now is the perfect time to start.

We appreciate everyone who voted and shared their feedback. We know there’s always room to improve this poll idea, and we’re committed to making this poll even better in the future. But for now, let’s dive into the results—here’s what you, the readers, chose as your favorite local music to kick off 2025.

Oh, we should mention our new Reddit sub HERE.

Opinion | Richmond, We Don’t Need Another Love Song

Music has always been a mirror. It tells us who we are, what we value, and, sometimes, what we’re too afraid to face. But if music is supposed to reflect the world around us, then what does it say that so much of today’s mainstream music says… nothing at all? Richmond...
