Best Of VA Missed Connections: November 17 – November 23

by | Nov 23, 2021 | WTF?!

Welcome to another week of Missed Connections from around the Commonwealth, where I sometimes worry that we are getting entirely too fancy and losing touch with our roots. This week’s bumper crop of wine tastings, Japanese restaurants, and the always-ritzy Starbucks definitely makes me a little nervous.

But Richmond, you always come through, and this week is no exception. From ladies so drunk they need to be driven home by strangers from Main St. bars to people blowing off a first date to hit on the bartender, RVA is keeping it as classy as ever. And I, for one, am here for it.

Bonus points to the person out there who still thinks “Bob Barker” when they hear “The Price Is Right.” The less said about Drew Carey in 2021, the better.

Have your pets spayed or neutered, Virginia.

Busy Woman (Henrico)

We met at a wine tasting. You did a perfect Price is Right. I want to be your Bob Barker. You paid a lot for good wine. I can help you drink it.

Starbucks in Gatehouse Plaza

Hey that beautiful girl,
I saw you have a rush running to the Starbucks to pick up your cup. Then I saw and gave you my way when you were running out. You saw me look at you and you smiled at me. You were just so beautiful.
It was just too fast and I did not have a chance to ask your number.

Email to tell me what you wore so maybe we can reconnect.

Thanks!!

blonde good samaritan (rva)

to whoever drove my girlfriend home from the sidewalk cafe or another downtown bar last night – i’m so grateful you got her home safe. i was yelling at y’all to shut the door so the cat wouldn’t get out, and i wish i’d stopped to thank you. as my dad says, you’ve earned a star in your crown.

Female at Aldi (Falls Church)

You: Brown hair female, probably mid-40s.
Me: Light brown hair male, mid-30s.

We gotta stop meeting like this! 🙂

Tan Blonde White SUV broad st (Manakin)

Where did you go?

I was in the truck

Bartender at Black Lodge (Scotts Addition, RVA)

You waited on/bartended a first date I was on tonight. I really did try and give my full attention to the date, but I couldn’t help but notice you. I compliment your t-shirt and asked you if you knew who the artist was–if you see this, I’d like to get to know you.

Blonde at Thrift store in a Toyota (Norfolk)

I seen you all summer almost every day. Occasionally we had small talk but not much else. I told myself it was because of covid. But it was probably because I thought you were out of my league…. But we did talk eventually every time we saw each other then I did not see you for months. Then I saw you again for the first time and you looked as good as ever.. I still think you may be out of my league but we did speak about the same topic a few times.. What was that? what do I drive? I assume you know because I know what you drive not to be a stalker but we did see each other almost every day for a month.

Sakura Japan (Chesapeake)

We were in line at the Food Court at Greenbrier Mall.
What did we talk about? What did I ask you?

Missed connection

You had asked me for a great evening.

7/11 Harrogate (Chester)

We have talked many times. You work at 7/11 and getting ready to leave it. I have told you if we keep meeting like this we will half to take our relationship to the next level and you seem to like my flirting as I do. I find you VERY attractive and would love to see if there is a deeper connection. You work in the medical field and last night we talked about something very sad in my life, what was it so I know its really you. I do hope by some chance you see this because I have a hard time not thinking about you and your gorgeous smile not to mention those amazing eye. You made mention last night you looked a mess, all I can say if you looked any better I wouldn’t be able to control myself at all!
