Legend Brewing partners with James River Outdoor Coalition to host James River Run 6/4

Lace up those tennis shoes and prepare to drink some craft beer all for a good cause this weekend.

Legend Brewing has teamed up with the James River Outdoor Coalition (JROC) to put together another James River Run on Saturday, June 4th.

Beginning at the brewery, runners will race along the scenic James River in four-mile and 10K competitions, both of which are dog-friendly. Proceeds from the event will go towards JROC, an organization that helps to complete improvements in the James River Park System and educate the public on park issues.

“We’re right here on the river and a lot of folks that use the river kind of hang out here,” said David Gott, Vice-President of Operations at Legend Brewing. “We just thought it was probably a good thing for us to be able to give back a little bit since we get so much business from people being on the river. They’re the group that takes care of the park, does all the upkeep and everything.”

But the James River Run is more than just a race. Legend Brewery has opened up its patio for an after party, starting at 11:30am. Live music will be provided by the Cashmere Jungle Lords, who play from 2:30 to 5pm, and the brewery is donating a portion of sales of their popular summer seasonal, Z-Dam Ale to JROC.

“We just hope people will come out and help support after the race, and help support JROC,” said Gott. “They do great work out there, and the river park is a very important part of Richmond.”

The James River Run will take place this Saturday, June 4th at 10:30 am. From now until race day registration is $30.00 and $40.00 the day of. Fee includes t-shirt, raffle ticket, and after party on the Legend patio. You can pick up your tickets here.
